The Neuroscience of Polarization

How our brain receives information

Do you ever speak to someone close to you and wonder why they can’t really understand you? That might have to do with how our brain receives information. The assumption is that if we both receive the same information, we should have the same sense of reality. When information enters our brain, our brain interprets that information based on a number of factors such as what we learn from family, friends and media.

Henry Markram is a neuroscientist from South Africa. In 2009, he spoke at TED Talks about how science and technology has led to breakthroughs in how he is able to understand how we create our own sense of reality.
